"On the occasion of the 65th International Human Rights Day, I wish to extend my warm wishes to the people of the Maldives, to the United Nations, and to each and everyone working towards guaranteeing, promoting and protecting human rights around the globe.

“On the occasion of the Thirty Second Anniversary of the founding of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), I am pleased to extend warm greetings and sincere good wishes to the people of SAARC, especially to the Secretary-General and the hardworking staff of the Secretariat.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamed Asim said that “democracy will be resilient when it is able to propel inclusive economic democracy” and that the Government of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom is striving to build that level of resilience in democracy in the Maldives. “Since coming in to office three years ago, the Government has embarked on a number of ambitious development projects which has already started transforming lives and livelihoods.”

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Asim, Minister of Foreign Affairs has departed to Indonesia to attend the Ninth Bali Democracy Forum, to be held from 8-9 December 2016.
