Commonwealth Deputy Secretary General calls on Foreign Minister Dunya

9 April, 2016; Commonwealth Deputy Secretary General, Dr. Josephine Ojiambo has called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon, Minister Dunya welcomed the Deputy Secretary General to the Maldives and discussed the engagement of Maldives with the Commonwealth. Minister Dunya also briefed the Deputy Secretary General on recent developments including President Yameen’s National Master Plan for Strengthening Governance in the country. The Deputy Secretary General noted that the Commonwealth was keen to working with the Maldives in strengthening democracy.

Foreign Minister was accompanied by H. E. Ms. Fathimath Inaya, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ms. Leesha Mohamed, Senior Desk Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Commonwealth Deputy Secretary General arrived in Maldives this afternoon on an official visit. The Deputy Secretary General is scheduled to hold discussions with the senior Government officials and other stakeholders, during her visit.
