5 April 2016, Male; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Dunya Maumoon has sent a message of sympathy to His Excellency Sartaj Aziz, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, following the flooding caused by torrential rain in North West Pakistan, occurring in the parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan provinces, causing loss of several lives and injury to many.
Minister’s message reads as follows:
“I was deeply saddened to learn about the severe widespread flooding caused by torrential rain in North West Pakistan, occurring in the parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan provinces, causing the loss of several innocent lives, damage to infrastructure, and a significant disruption of the lives of thousands of people.
At this time of distress, the Government and the people of the Maldives join me in sending our profound sympathy to you, the Government and the friendly people of Pakistan. And in particular, to those who are being directly affected. I wish the recovery efforts every success, and commend the tenacity of the people of Pakistan during this challenging time.
Please also convey our sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families, and our solidarity with the residents of the hardest hit regions.”
