Home Minister Umar Naseer attends reception to celebrate Pakistan Day

23 March 2016; Minister of Home Affairs, H.E. Mr. Umar Naseer attended a reception held on the occasion of the Seventy-Sixth Anniversary of Pakistan Day, as the Chief Guest. At the reception held at Hotel Jen, Home Minister Umar Naseer addressed the function and conveyed warm greetings on behalf of His Excellency President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, and the people of Maldives, to His Excellency President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the friendly people of Pakistan.

During his speech Minister Umar Naseer highlighted the close bilateral ties of friendship between Maldives and Pakistan. Minister also stated that both Maldives and Pakistan work very closely in the international arena to promote peace and security, especially in the Muslim world through the UN and OIC and also in promoting regional cooperation in South Asia through SAARC.  He stated that both the countries share a common perspective in transforming SAARC into an organization that will help the people of South Asia to achieve their dreams.

The reception was also attended by VIPs, the foreign Diplomatic Corp, senior officials of the Government of Maldives and the business sector.
