1 March 2016, Geneva; The Minister of Foreign Affairs H. E. Ms. Dunya Maumoon and Attorney General Mohamed Anil met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights His Excellency Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein this evening. The meeting took place at the sidelines of the ongoing High Level Segment of the thirty first session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
During the meeting Minister Dunya briefed the High Commissioner on the current political situation in the Maldives and assured Government commitment in upholding the rule of law and strengthening of institutions. Minister also informed the High Commissioner about Government’s initiative to reconvene the all party dialogue.
The meeting was attended by H.E. Dr. Hala Hameed, Permanent Representative of Maldives to the UN Office at Geneva, Ms. Khadeeja Najeeha, Director General Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Rishfa Rasheed, Counsellor of Maldives mission in Geneva and Ms. Shahiya Ali Manik, Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
