Attorney General leads Maldives delegation to the reivew of the Combined Fourth and Fifth Periodic Reports of the Maldives at the Committee on the rights of the child

18 January 2016; Attorney General H E. Mohamed Anil arrived Geneva yesterday to attend the Maldives’ review under the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) scheduled to take place on 19 January 2016.

The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is a process which involves a review of the situation of children of all Member States party to the Convention. It is a legally binding international agreement setting out children’s basic needs and the requirements for the Governments to make them available. At the review, Maldives will declare what actions have been taken to improve the welfare of children and the existing challenges to meet the obligations.

The Maldives delegation to the CRC review is headed by Attorney General. Mohamed Anil and is accompanied by the Foreign Secretary H E Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations Office at Geneva Dr. Hala Hameed, Mrs. Mariyam Azra Ahmed, Minister of State for Law and Gender, Mrs. Fathimath Azza, Director General of Ministry of Education, Mrs. Hawwa Shafeea Riza, Senior State attorney at Attorney General’s Office, Ms. Rishfa Rasheed, Counsellor at the Maldives Mission in Geneva, Mrs. Aishath Rishmee, Assistant Director of Ministry of Law and Gender, Mr. Abdulla Ashraf, Assistant Director of Ministry of Law and Gender and Ms. Laila Shareef, Senior Desk Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
