The Government of Bangladesh assures its support to the Maldives during the Male’ water crisis

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has assured the Maldives of her Government’s support during the Male’ water crisis. This assurance was extended during a telephone conversation between President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and Prime Minister Hasina, this morning.
During the conversation, Prime Minister Hasina voiced that she was deeply concerned about the current situation in Male’, and was briefed on ongoing developments. The Bangladesh Prime Minister also stated that a navy ship with water producing capabilities would be dispatched to the Maldives, and is estimated to arrive on 11 December.
President Yameen expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Hasina for her concern during the water crisis in Male’. The President also extended his gratitude, on behalf of the Government and people of Maldives, as well as on his own behalf, to the Government and people of Bangladesh, for their continued support and assistance to the Maldives.
Speaking further, the President assured the Bangladesh Prime Minister that the Government would ensure the continued provision of water to the large number of Bangladeshi citizens living in Male’, during this crisis.
