Foreign Minister departs to Colombo for the Maldives-Sri Lanka Joint Commission

09 September 2014, Male'; Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms Dunya Maumoon has departed today, on an official visit to Sri Lanka.

During her visit, Minister Dunya will co-Chair with the Sri Lankan External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L.Peiris, the Maldives - Sri Lanka Joint Commission.  

During her visit, Minister Dunya is accompanied by a high level delegation that includes Minister of Education, Dr Aishath Shiham, Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr Mohamed Shainee and senior officials from various Ministries and other Government agencies.

The Maldives – Sri Lanka Joint Commission was established in 1984, under the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation between the two countries. Five sessions of the Commission have been held to date, with the last session held in Male’ in April 2006.
