Chinese government donates computer systems to the newly established FOSIM

23 July 2014, Male’; Chinese government has donated computer systems to the newly established Foreign Service Institute of Maldives at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the handing over ceremony held this afternoon, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon welcomed the Ambassador of People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Mr. Wang Fukang and extended greetings and good wishes from the Government and the people of Maldives to the Government and the people of China.

Minister discussed the areas in which both the institutes could work together and, reassured that the Chinese Foreign Affairs University and the Foreign Service Institute of Maldives would work collaboratively in relative fields. 

Minister thanked the Chinese Government and the Embassy for the continuous support and assistance.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Secretary Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam and Joint Secretary Ms. Aishath Azeema of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Foreign Service institute was established on the 16th of January 2014, undertakes research and scholarly analysis of important foreign policy issues of the Maldives and assist the Ministry in shaping relevant policies and strategies that are based on evidence.

The goal of FOSIM is to become a centre of excellence on foreign policy issues and a reputed national institute for the research that it undertakes and the educational programmes that it conducts.
