United Nations Resident Coordinator a.i. and UNDP Resident Representative a.i. calls on the Minister of Foreign Affairs

Mr. David McLachlan-Karr, United Nations Resident Coordinator a.i. and UNDP Resident Representative a.i., called on  Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon, Minister of Foreign Affairs today. During the meeting held at the Ministry, Minister Dunya welcomed Mr. McLachlan-Karr to the Maldives and expressed the Government’s appreciation for the continued assistance of the United Nations system and particularly the country office. The Minister further briefed the UN Resident Coordinator a.i. on the Government’s policies, priorities, including the foreign policy goals and objectives. The Minister expressed hope that the collaboration between the Government and the United Nations Offices in the Maldives would be further strengthened during Mr. McMcLachlan-Karr’s tenure.

The United Nations Resident Coordinator a.i. thanked the Minister for the warm welcome and assured that the close working relationship would continue to exist between the Maldives and the United Nations. The Resident Coordinator briefed the Minister on ongoing issues and upcoming projects, as well as exchanged ideas on further strengthening the assistance framework of the United Nations to the Maldives.

Mr. David McLachlan-Karr is an Australian by nationality and took up the post as the United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Papua New Guinea in 2009. He previously held the post of RC/RR in Venezuela from October 2004.
