Chinese Embassy in the Maldives Officially Opens Visa Section

9 January 2014, Male’; The Embassy of China in Maldives has officially opened the Visa Section today. The Visa Section was jointly opened by Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon, Minister of Foreign Affairs and by His Excellency Mr. Wang Fukang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Maldives.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Dunya expressed her gratitude to the Government of China for opening the Visa Section of the Chinese Embassy in Maldives, and noted the significance of the facility’s role in furthering trade and investment, between the two countries.

Ambassador Wang in his speech, thanked the Government of Maldives for the support and assistance it has provided in enabling the Chinese Embassy to establish its Visa Section today, and noted the previous hurdles they had faced in its endeavor to set up such, since the establishment of the Embassy in 2011. In conclusion, the Ambassador stated that he hoped more Maldivians would take this opportunity to visit and study in China.

Senior Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department of Immigration and Emigration and from the Business sector participated in this event.
