The British High Commission has announced today that Maldivian applicants will now be able to apply for their UK visas in Male' for the second consecutive year on Wednesday, 27 August.
A Visa Application Centre (VAC) will be set up in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will run from 9:00 hrs to 19:00 hrs. The service will allow applicants, for an additional fee to submit their UK visa application for all visa categories and biometric data in Malé. All applicants must apply for their required Visa, pay the visa fees and book an appointment online by visiting https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/.
Appointments can be booked from 6 August until 12 noon on 25 August, 2014. The VAC will not accept the payments of any fee in cash as all payments must be paid online athttp://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/srilanka/user_pay_services.html
Speaking about the announcement, Foreign Minister Dunya said:
"We are all extremely pleased that the UK Government has decided to run this service for Maldivian applicants for a second year. This will come as a great relief to Maldivians and in particular Maldivian students, as having a VAC in Malé makes the application process so much easier and more convenient. The Government of Maldives would like to thank the UK Government for making the necessary arrangements for this initiative and looking forward we hope that we will be able to find a permanent solution.”
