Written by
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has on Tuesday decided not to levy any ‎taxes from staple food items. The Government has previously proposed to levy a 10 ‎percent tax on the price of staple foods.‎
The decision was made, upon review of the current situation, and to alleviate the ‎difficulties faced by the public, due to ‎the current water shortage, brought on by the ‎fire that broke out at the ‎Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC).‎
