President meets members of the Japan-Maldives Parliamentarians Friendship League

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has today met with members of the Japan-Maldives Parliamentarians Friendship League, as part of his current visit to Japan.
Speaking at the meeting held this morning, the President highlighted the close bilateral relations between the Maldives and Japan. The President said that the strong ties among members of the Japan-Maldives Parliamentarians Friendship League has always played a major role in bringing the two countries together.
Speaking in this regard, the President said that one of the main reasons for the solid relations between the two countries was the high regard accorded for Maldives in the hearts of the Japanese people and Government. The President also expressed his confidence that more opportunities will open up for Maldives in the future, via the Parliamentary League, in different areas of development.
In his speech, the President underscored that the ruling party, Progressive Party of Maldives, and the Government’s coalition partners have secured majority support in the recent parliamentary elections. He noted that this would enable speedier implementation of the developmental projects.
In conclusion, President Yameen invited members of the Japan-Maldives Parliamentarians Friendship League to make a visit to the Maldives.
At the meeting, President of the Friendship League highlighted the close ties between Maldives and Japan. He expressed his confidence that relations among parliamentarians of both countries would further strengthen.
Member of Parliament for the Villimale constituency, Hon. Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik also attended the meeting.
