Maldives and Sri Lanka hold official talks

The Government of Maldives and Sri Lanka have held official talks, led by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The President reiterated the government’s commitment to enhance the welfare of the people, develop and diversify the economy, strengthen social cohesion within the country, and empower the youth.

In his speech, the President expressed hopes that this visit would further strengthen and expand trade relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka. He also assured the Sri Lankan President of Maldives’ firm support to Sri Lanka at the international level.

At the meeting, discussions were also held on the regional and international issues of mutual concern.
