High Commission launches National ID Card Application processing

High Commission today launches service for processing National ID Card Applications for Maldivians living in the UK.
In close coordination with the Department of National Registration (DNR) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, High Commission will be accepting application forms for National ID Cards, which the High Commission will forward DNR in Male’, facilitating the issuing of ID cards to Maldivians living in UK with long term visas.

Earlier, while Maldivians had to travel back home to renew their ID cards or to obtain ID cards for their new-born children, Maldivians living in the UK will now be able to obtain their ID cards without having to travel back home.

High Commission hopes this service would prove useful for all Maldivians living in UK and who wish to renew their ID cards or obtain ID cards for their children, without having to travel to Male’.

High Commission has also been providing service for renewal of Maldivian passports and issuing new passports for lost or stolen passports, in close coordination with the Department of Immigration and Emigration, since August 2005. Over 30 passports were issued to Maldivians in the year 2006.
