High Commissioner Dr. Faizal meets with Dr. Farhan Nizami, the Director of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies

High Commissioner Dr. Faizal visited the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies and University of Oxford today.

The High Commissioner was welcomed by Dr. Farhan Nizami, the Director of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies and was given a tour of the centre’s new buildings.

The High Commissioner and the Director discussed building more formal research linkages between the centre and Maldives.

After lunch Dr. Faizal attended a meeting with the Director, Dr. Ian Curtis and fellows of the Environmental Conservation Institute to discuss building research linkages between the Institute and Maldives. 

The High Commissioner also attended a meeting with the Director of the Clinical Studies at Oxford, Dr. Tim Lancaster and medical students from the University to discuss the possibility of sending students from Oxford to Maldives for their medical electives.

The High Commissioner was accompanied by Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Naushad Waheed, Mr. Ahmed Shiaan, Counsellor and Ms. Catharine Russell, Commonwealth and Political Affairs assistant.
